Ye’s Twitter access freeze was previously lifted

Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, had his access to Twitter restricted for a “period of time” only.

Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, had his access to Twitter restricted for only a “period of time” following his anti-Semitic tweet earlier this month and has not posted on the social media platform since deleted this post.

On October 9, a Twitter spokesperson had said that “the owner of the account had to delete the tweet and their access to Twitter was limited for a period of time” Twitter has not yet responded to a request for comment from Bloomberg.

Musk says he had no role in getting Kanye West back on Twitter

(Reuters) Twitter owner Elon Musk said on Friday he did not intervene to reinstate the account of rapper Kanye West, who was suspended by the microblogging site earlier this month for posting anti-Semitic comments.

The billionaire said Twitter had restored the account of the rapper, now known as Ye, ahead of the completion of the $44 billion acquisition of the social media platform late Thursday. “I was not consulted or informed,” Musk said in a tweet.

Ye, who has more than 30 million Twitter followers, has stirred controversy in recent months by publicly ending major corporate relationships and lashing out at other celebrities on social media.

On October 8, Musk tweeted “Welcome back to Twitter my friend!” when Ye posted on the platform for the first time in two years after his Instagram account was restricted for anti-Semitic posts. Twitter later blocked his account and removed one of his posts.

Musk took over Twitter with brutal efficiency on Thursday, firing top executives but offering little clarity on how he will achieve the ambitions he has outlined for the influential social media platform.

Musk, however, said Friday that Twitter will form a content moderation board with “very diverse viewpoints.”

“No major content decisions or account resets will occur prior to the convening of this council,” he added.

In early October, Ye agreed in principle to buy Parler, the social media platform popular among American conservatives.
