This WhatsApp lock feature is just what the doctor ordered

WhatsApp screenshot lock on Android beta in a future update.

Interestingly, when almost all apps are working to protect your privacy and security, the screenshot feature is still available on your mobile phone. You can take a screenshot of almost anything you see on your phone. Be it profile pictures, messages or what not. So, to provide you with a safer online chat environment, Meta Platforms is working on WhatsApp screenshot lock feature on Android phones. The feature is currently in beta mode on WhatsApp. The online messaging platform will block any attempt to take screenshots of “View Once” images and videos. Note that the feature to lock screenshots will be available in a future update.

Reporting on the same WABetaInfo tweeted: “WhatsApp is working on blocking screenshots in Android beta! Thanks to a future update to WhatsApp beta for Android, WhatsApp will block any attempt to take screenshots to view images and videos a time!” You may know that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on August 9, 2022 announced three new privacy features for a new WhatsApp update: previous group participants, choose who can see when you’re online on WhatsApp, and screenshot lock. .

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the screenshot lock feature was in development in the beta of WhatsApp for iOS, but now there is news on the Android app. As for sharing a screenshot, WhatsApp is working on a new splash screen that introduces the new version of the “View Once” feature. Due to this new version, it is impossible to take screenshots to view images and videos from View Once.

“This is a once-viewed photo, so it’s more private. It will disappear from the chat after you close it. Also, you can’t share, forward, copy, save, or screenshot it,” it says the statement

However, we recommend that you don’t share anything sensitive in the app, as the recipient may still be able to take a photo of it with another phone or camera.

Also note that when the recipient takes a screenshot to view images and videos from View Once, they will not be able to do so, but the sender will not receive any notification that this event has occurred.
