Do you have an iPhone or iPad? Your experience will get worse

Apple may soon start serving ads to your iPhone and iPad through various apps like Maps, Books, Podcasts and more. Here’s why.

Apple plans to expand ads to a wider area of your iPhone and iPad soon! This comes from Apple analyst Mark Gurman who says that Apple is expanding its advertising business and pushing ads beyond its software products. However, Apple currently displays ads in the App Store, Stocks, and the News app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The App Store already has Google-like search ads, and Apple even recently seeded TV+ advertising for its “Friday Night Baseball” deal with Major League Baseball, the Bloomberg report mentioned from Gourmet. But this latest development indicates that your iPhone and iPad may soon start receiving ads in several other apps, including Maps, Books, and even Podcasts in the future.

Gurman suggests that Apple is expected to offer an option for iPhone and iPad users to opt out of personalized ads just like the feature called App Tracking Transparency (ATT) launched last year. What’s he doing? Basically, it allows users to choose whether apps can track them on other apps and websites. Apple says about 78 percent of iOS 15 users on their iPhones have done so. However, it will still be able to capture some data such as your carrier identity, device type and what you read.

Why Apple plans to launch ads on iPhones and iPads

Mark Gurman suggests that Apple’s app tracking transparency feature has created some collateral damage for companies big and small in terms of revenue. “You might not feel too bad for social media giants like Meta Platforms Inc. and Snap Inc. that have claimed to have lost billions of dollars as a result of Apple’s changes, but smaller developers also say the function has turned their businesses around,” he said. added With that in mind, Apple can expand its own advertising business over time.

In addition, ads currently appear on the Search tab of the App Store’s Suggested panel, but soon expect to expand ads to the main Today tab and third-party app download pages as well. In addition to Maps, Apple Podcasts and Books, Gurman predicted TV+ could drive more advertising with multiple platforms like Netflix, Disney, Discovery and more.
