The Salvation Army of Minot will be giving away about 250 to 300 backpacks to K-12 students on August 22 from 10 am to noon and 1 to 3 pm
The Salvation Army is located at 315 Western Avenue.
Capt. John Woodard said the backpacks were packed by volunteers and contain school supplies that have been donated through efforts such as Minot Rotary’s Fill the Bus campaign.
There are backpacks for primary, secondary and high school students. The Salvation Army also has a few scientific calculators that can be used for middle school classes.
The backpacks are free and available to any family who needs one for their child, Woodard said.
