The church gave away a turkey, preserves, gravy and stuffing, along with other assorted goodies packaged in bags.
FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and a Fort Valley church is taking steps to make sure everyone has a Thanksgiving meal on their table this year.
St. Peter AME Church loaded bags of non-perishable food Saturday morning as part of their Thanksgiving giveaway.
Their goal was to provide food to 50 families in the Fort Valley community, and the event began at 11 am.
A turkey, canned goods, gravy, stuffing and more were some of the varied products they were giving away.
In a statement, the church said the goal of the raffle was to “continue the ministry of giving back to the community and providing food for families for Thanksgiving.”
The church wants to continue expanding the gift and hopes to feed a larger number of families next year.
