ROSELAND — A Far South Side community group will celebrate peace and kids going back to school with free activities for 24 hours this weekend.
Kids Off The Block hosts their 24-Hour All Night Peace Jam from noon Saturday to noon Sunday at 11618 S. Michigan Ave. The one-day community event will have food, music, contests, prizes and more, according to a Facebook post. .
It’s the nonprofit’s first 24-hour community event since 2018.
On Saturday, there will be a back-to-school giveaway, a performance by the South Shore Drill Team, a performance by Kids Off The Block, a bouncy tank, a toy truck, a 360-degree photo booth, a giant boxing ring. , bounce houses and rock climbing.
There will also be free food, music and double Dutch. The tournaments, which include a mechanical bull tournament, a bingo tournament, a spades tournament and others, will begin Saturday at 7 p.m. The winners of each tournament will win $100 cash prizes.
On Sunday, there will be a free breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30, free haircuts from 8 to 11, yoga sessions, performances, a Kids Off The Block peace play, corner prayer and a glam truck.
The first 20 people to get vaccinated during the event will receive $50.
There will also be free food trucks, a community mural, karaoke and midnight movie screenings.
