Krank Cycles Maui is looking for volunteers to help assemble 400 bikes for a Christmas giveaway for deserving keiki in Maui County.
This creative show will run every Saturday starting November 19th from 9am to 2pm
The bike shop is hosting the annual bike build program to give keiki in Maui County new bikes for the holidays. The raffle is run by Maui businessman Jim Falk, who bought the bikes and is donating them to deserving children. Each keiki recipient will also receive a helmet with their bike.
“We recognize that a local bike shop is more than just a shop, it’s a community hub. People come to us not just to repair or buy bikes. People also ask for advice on where to go, current trail condition reports, to talk stories or to find the best places to ride with their kids. One way we can help give back is by hosting a bike build for the holiday program,” said Krank Cycles owner Aaron “Moose ” Reichert.
“Everyone remembers that great feeling they had the first time they went out on a bike. We want to help provide that for generations to come,” he said.
To participate in the bike build, volunteers should email, search social media, or call Krank Cycles for more information. No mechanical experience required; however, those with tools are encouraged to use them.
Krank Cycles has 2 full service bike shops located in Central Maui, at 270 Dairy Road in Kahului and Makawao.
Since its inception in 2013, Krank has focused on the community by organizing the Maui Bike Mission which donates and repairs bicycles for children. Krank also organizes trail building/maintenance days and was involved in the planning of the Makawao State Forest Reserve bike system.
