NEW YORK — With Thanksgiving just nine days away, Jets and Giants players spent their usual day off Tuesday turning it around.
In Morris Plains, New York, Jets’ Soloman Thomas, along with some teammates, joined the Interfaith Food Pantry Network to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need.
“Everybody deserves a good meal during the holidays. Everybody deserves food, so we’re trying to give back and make sure that they have that food, that they have that holiday meal in front of them on Thanksgiving,” Thomas said.

In the Bronx, the Giants did their part. Leonard Williams, Xavier McKinney, Adoree’ Jackson and their colleagues worked with Stop and Shop and the Food Bank of New York City to distribute 500 turkeys, along with all the trimmings, to NYCHA residents of Castle Hill.
“It’s a big deal, you know. There’s a lot of families going hungry and things like that this time of year, and it’s important for us to have money and food and an opportunity to give back,” Williams said . .
“It brings everybody together and everybody’s happy, and at least we know we’re going to have a turkey on our table for Thanksgiving,” said one NYCHA resident.
