HMV confirms opening date for new Shrewsbury store and announces first customer gift

HMV is opening its new Shrewsbury store later this month

The record store, which closed its previous store in the county town in January 2021 when it closed Pride Hill Centre, opens its new branch on Wednesday 23 November. A promotional gift has also been promised to early customers.

HMV is taking over the former River Island store on the top floor of the Darwin Center after the fashion retailer pulled out of the city last month.

A sign displayed in the window read: “We will be opening here on Wednesday 23rd November.

“Free pop culture swag bag for the first 25 customers who make a purchase on opening day.

“We look forward to welcoming you to our new store.”

HMV isn’t the only entertainment retailer opening a new store in the Darwin Center this autumn.

DVD Megastore and Buttercup Bookshop will become a stand-alone mid-level store from December 3 when it completes its move from independent traders gallery The Collective on the mall’s ground floor.
