MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The Greater Meridian Health Clinic shared bags of fresh fruits and vegetables with its patients Monday, free of charge.
Corn, tomatoes and other produce were distributed while supplies last. One organizer said events like this make a real difference to the community.
“It hits home because I remember when I was little we didn’t have much to eat. If someone would bring us something, we would be very grateful to get it. With the economy the way it is, no one is going to get a raise. Everything is adding less to our paychecks, so whatever we can do to try to help the community, then we’re willing to do that,” said Sandra Keymore, outreach worker.
