Fulton Barbershop Celebrating Kitchen, Backpack Giveaway | News, Sports, Employment

WHEELING — Zach Zdonczyk wants to give Ohio Valley residents a high-quality experience when they sit in the barber’s chair. Her new boutique, Luxury Lifestyle Grooming Lounge, is opening its doors and she wants to meet the community and help some of her kids get ready to go back to school.

Zdonczyk will host a back-to-school cookout and backpack raffle at the Luxury Lifestyle Grooming Lounge, located at 586 National Road in Wheeling’s Fulton neighborhood, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday.

While there will be no haircuts during the event, people can come and buy hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and sodas, and kids can pick out new backpacks with school supplies as those supplies last. Zdonczyk said she wanted to take the time today to learn a little more about the people in the neighborhood.

Zdonczyk is not new to the region. He grew up in the Ohio Valley and has returned to see family many times. She came from Atlanta in March to cut free hair at the Textured Hair Expo at Bridge Street Middle School.

Ultimately, she said, she wanted to return for good, not just to be closer to family, but to offer her styling skills to this community.

“I’ve seen the growth in Wheeling when I visited,” he said. “People are used to coming in, getting a cut and going. I wanted to wear more than that. I want to give them a more comfortable experience,” he added. “We’re there to create a much better relationship for the clientele, so that they think, when I walk in the door, my time with you is about me.”

For now, Zdonczyk and business partner Luke Steed will focus on haircuts and shaving, providing clients with intricate styles and designs. Zdonczyk hopes to branch out in the future, perhaps into facials and, for women, eyelash and nail treatments.

Travis Broadwater of Broadwater Properties and Jen Stricklin of Posh Hair and Nail Studio have helped donate school supplies, Zdonczyk said.

“I’m just trying to meet new people and along the way help anyone who maybe can’t afford to get all these school supplies right now,” she said.

Hours of operation for Luxury Lifestyle will be 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM Wednesday through Sunday.
