ROCKFORD (WREX) — Oh Baby Mine’s lactation and doula services help provide maternity care resources.
The infant formula shortage is easing for many, but it’s not over yet. Oh, Baby Mine is stepping up to offer free containers of baby formula to moms in need.
“We use Gentile and this formula in particular was very hard to find, for the first two months or so that I was breastfeeding,” said Chelsea Whitlow.
Whitlow went on to say:
“It didn’t work out for me or my situation. I wish it would have worked a little bit more just because I wouldn’t have been so stressed because the formula was short and hard to find,” Whitlow said.
It’s one of the many things that happen here at mama-palooza. Various vendors offered health care tips and informed women about where to find maternity care resources throughout the city of Rockford.
Mama Palooza strives to educate new mothers about their options when it comes to breastfeeding and what is best for their children.
According to lactation specialist Lisa Kehoe, new parents often have a lot of questions about how much they should and shouldn’t be feeding their babies.
“Maybe you decided not to breastfeed or it didn’t work out and you didn’t get help in time and now your formula feeding is I support you 100% no matter what you choose this is your life your baby and we. You have the formula here to give you some,” Kehoe said.
Kehoe went on to say:
“Babies don’t take much, I even took my heel out and that’s the size of a baby’s tummy when they’re first born, so they only need 5-7ml of anything in their tummy” , Kehoe said.
