Busy weekend at Proviso includes taste of Bellwood and giveaways

This weekend will feature a variety of school supply giveaways in suburban Proviso, along with the three-day Taste of Bellwood, one of the township’s largest food festivals. Below are some events to watch out for.

Taste Of Bellwood started on August 12th

The annual Taste of Bellwood kicked off Friday, August 12, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm, along the stretch of Washington Boulevard near Village Hall, 3200 Washington Blvd. in Bellwood.

This year’s Taste features about 40 food vendors and nearly two dozen non-food vendors, including carnival rides.

The Tasting will also be held on Saturday, August 13, from 12 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, August 14, from 12 to 9 p.m.

Broadview Park District Back to School Event

On Saturday, August 13, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at Schroeder Park, 2600 S. 13th Ave. in Broadview, the Broadview Park District will host its annual back-to-school event that will include a school supply giveaway, bouncy house, food. , crafts, raffles and more.

“Through partnerships and using park resources, we’ve acquired up to $20,000 in school supplies and gifts,” said Broadview Park District Executive Director Brian Dawson.

Park district officials hope to give away at least 200 backpacks, he said.

Maywood Unity at the Community Back to School Bash

On Saturday, August 13, from 11 am to 2 pm, in the north area of ​​the Maywood Public Library, 121 S. 5th Ave. in Maywood, the village, park district, library along with other institutions and businesses will host the Maywood Unity back to school community.

The event will feature interactive games, activities, a school supply giveaway, food and more.

Free school supply giveaway at Maywood United Methodist

On Saturday, August 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Barri United Methodist Church, 1817 W. Washington St. in Maywood, Neighborhood United will host a back-to-school event, with a free school supply giveaway for all ages. Supplies include markers, crayons, and backpacks.

Empowerment Church Back 2 School Popup Service

On Sunday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Taste of Bellwood, 3200 Washington Blvd., Empowerment Church will host a Back 2 School Pop-Up Sunday Service. The event will feature free backpacks and school supplies. To notify the church that you will be attending, click here.
