With school starting next week in Vacaville and Fairfield, the heat is on to gather all the supplies needed to get the academic year off to a good start.
If you need help, there’s a slew of events in both cities on Saturday offering backpack and school supply giveaways, as well as last-minute fun.
In Fairfield, the police department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District have partnered for the Back to School Resource Fair.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., stop by St. Mark’s Church, 1600 Union Ave., for backpacks and school supplies. Your student must be present.
Once done, learn more about the school and community resources available and enjoy the food and beverage offerings.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lamb of God In Christ Ministries will be handing out backpacks.
There will also be food and other activities.
Come to 533-539 Jackson Street to explore what’s available.
From 11am to 2pm, enter the backpack and school supply raffle at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1735 Enterprise Dr, Building 3.
This event is hands free. That is, pull up in your vehicle, remove the trunk, and volunteers will be on hand to load your goodies before sending you on your way.
In Vacaville, there is a Back to School Backpack Raffle for 11am-1pm at Trower Park near the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club on Holly Lane.
Aside from academic needs, there will be free food, games and bounce houses.
