Grammy Award-winning artist Ashanti will show the other side of her art Thursday, as part of the back-to-school event in Atlantic City.
The singer returns to Atlantic City 20 years after her self-titled first album. This time, he’s bringing the children’s book, My Name is a Story.
The event is sponsored by Demcats, the creation of Elijah Langford with his brother, Isaiah.
The first 100 children will receive a free tote bag and the first 500 will receive a copy of the book.
“Seeing people still get excited to see her is a blessing,” said the Langford’s mother, former Atlantic City First Lady Nynell Langford, who is Ashanti’s godmother.
“I’m the fairy godmother who cooks for her,” Nynell Langford said with a laugh.
“I’m proud of her and my kids,” he said.
The event starts at 6pm at the Phantasm The Experience Selfie Museum at Tanger Outlets The Walk.
RSVPs are through Nynell Langford at nynelllangford@yahoo.com or 609-432-9649.
