The BioShock series is officially 15 years old today

The BioShock series is officially 15 years old! The first game in the series was released on August 21, 2007 and became the best-selling video game franchise in history.

Since the original BioShock came out all those years ago, creator Ken Levine and publisher 2K Games have created several sequels and remasters. In fact, this series was so popular with fans that it was announced earlier this year. Since it was first announced in 2008, it was confirmed earlier this year that a bioshock movie has finally gone into production on Netflix. The film is being produced by Take-Two and Vertigo Entertainment and is expected to be part of the BioShock cinematic universe.

Life as quickly as it became an all-time franchise, became popular among fans around the world, the first entry in the series received 96 score on Metacritic, becoming one of the best games valued in the world. The series has sold over 37 million copies worldwide as of May 2021, making it one of the biggest game franchises in the world. For the first time in three decades, the sequel BioShock II was released in 2010, followed by the release of BioShock Infinite in 2013. But nine years later, will we see the return of the film with a new entry?

This year, there were multiple rumors about BioShock 4. Ever since the new leak said the announcement of a fourth entry would come sometime this year, but as the year begins to wind down, the the reality is that it seems normal. The entire database leak, which resulted in the database being contacted, revealed a number of games that had not been announced at the time of the leak. Many games have been announced in the leak, which leads us to believe that there is a real possibility that BioShock 4 is in the future. Of course, this is yet to be confirmed by the creator or 2K Games, but can we dream right?
