Tom Brady is still making history. It’s just a painful story.
It was a night to forget for Brady and the Buccaneers on Thursday. Not only was Tampa Bay defeated by Baltimore in a lackluster home loss, 27-22, but Brady also hit some career lows in the game.
Brady was flirting with a non-passing touchdown game until he connected with Julio Jones with less than a minute left in regulation. Had he finished with zero scores, it would have been the first time since 2001 that the passer had gone three straight games without a touchdown pass.

While Brady avoided that unfortunate piece of history, an uncharacteristically defeated Brady made another personal and NFL story Thursday night.
Brady has lost three straight games in his career; it’s just been a long, long time since it last happened. The loss to the Ravens on “Thursday Night Football” marked Brady’s first three-game losing streak since the 2002 season.
Brady and the Patriots lost four straight to the Chargers, Dolphins, Packers and Broncos.

That 2002 season ended with the Patriots finishing 9-7 and missing the playoffs. It looks like the Buccaneers could face the same fate if something doesn’t turn around, and quickly.
Brady was sacked three times in the Week 8 loss to the Ravens, giving him the unfortunate distinction of being the most sacked quarterback in NFL history.
He has now been sacked 556 times, tying him for the NFL record. He passed the recently retired Ben Roethlisberger (554 catches) to “hold” the record.

As it turns out, not only is losing three games in a row painful, it’s literally painful.
Somewhat remarkably, the Buccaneers’ loss on “Thursday Night Football” marks the first time in Brady’s career that he has been two games under .500 in a season.

He earned that unfortunate distinction after Tampa Bay fell to 3-5 for the 2022 NFL season.
Brady’s career regular season record now stands at 246-80 (.755 winning percentage).
