Here is the economic calendar in Asia August 19, 2022 – Japan CPI

Japan’s inflation data is the focus. We’ve already had Tokyo area inflation for July:

Tokyo’s food and energy rate (this is the closest to the US measure of core CPI) for July was 1.2%. This is still well below the Bank of Japan’s target rate. The BOJ considers current CPI levels to be transitory.
