Economic outlook forum on November 18

The City and County of Pueblo Economic Outlook Forum will be held Nov. 18 from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at Pueblo Community College, 900 W. Orman Ave.

Guest speakers will include: Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar, Councilman Dennis Flores, Pueblo County Commission Chairwoman Garrison Ortiz; Tatiana Bailey, CEO of Data Driven Economic Strategies; Patty Erjavec, president of Pueblo Community College; and Shannon Baker, Pueblo Economic Development Corp. mission coordinator.

Zane Grant of Court Appointed Special Counsel receives state honor

Pueblo Court Appointed Special Advocates Executive Director Zane Grant was recently named Colorado CASA Staff Member of the Year for his exemplary leadership with the organization at both the local and state level.

CASA supports and promotes court-appointed attorneys who are assigned to help abused or neglected children through the court process. In addition to opening CASA of Pueblo in 2002, Zane assumed management of Heart of Colorado CASA in Cañon City in 2012 and in 2017 helped launch and manage Heart of Colorado CASA in La Junta.

He is the sole director of the agency that manages three programs serving eight counties.

Grant is being recognized for going above and beyond managing rural operations and helping Pueblo’s fast-growing program. It has introduced new youth development programs, such as Fostering Futures and the Safe Baby Court Team program, which have become templates for CASA programs in the state and the nation, according to a CASA report.

Fuel & Iron Food Hall Founders Win Economic Development Award

The founders of Fuel & Iron Food Hall have received the Colorado Economic Development Council’s 2022 EDIE “Business of the Year” award, which recognizes significant contributions to the Colorado economy.

Fuel & Iron Food Hall founders Nathan Stern and Zach Cytryn are overseeing the transformation of the long-vacant 1915 Holmes Hardware building at 400 S. Union Ave. It will house a dining room of five restaurants, a bar and a cafe and ice cream parlor. on the first floor while the second and third floors will accommodate apartments.

“This year’s EDIE Award was especially poignant for us because it was created by Johnny’s Boiler Shop & Metal Works, a staple of craftsmanship and skill in Pueblo since 1946. This artisanal award was made with heart and soul for the Pueblo metal workers of American Steel. a legacy we are committed to honoring with the Fuel & Iron project,” they said in a press release.

Parkview wins health information honor

Parkview Health System has been awarded the Most Wired Digital Health Achievement by Health Information Management Executives.

Among more than 38,000 organizations surveyed, Parkview Health System was ranked among the top 70 in information technology areas such as data analytics and management, population health, infrastructure and patient engagement.

“This is not just an information technology award, this award is about all of our staff who embrace technology in improving healthcare,” said Bo Clark, vice president of information technology at Parkview. “Our adoption of cutting-edge technologies helps us deliver exceptional care.”

The home health award goes to Sangre de Cristo Community Care

Sangre de Cristo Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, has been honored by the Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems 2022 awards.

The annual review recognizes agencies that consistently deliver a positive patient experience and high-quality care measured from the patient’s perspective. Janell Solomon, chief compliance officer, said the honor directly represents the passion the agency’s employees have for providing patient care.

The agency serves Poble, Trinidad, Walsenburg, Cañon City and La Junta.
