EDGARTOWN, MASS. (WHDH) – Search teams with the US Coast Guard, Massachusetts State Police and more are looking for two swimmers near Martha’s Vineyard.
The Coast Guard announced the search Monday morning and that it was centered in Edgartown, in the vicinity of the “Jaws Bridge.”
According to a state police spokesman, the search began just before midnight. In a statement, he said Edgartown police called troopers after their department received reports of two men jumping off the bridge but not returning to the surface.
State Police marine and air teams were dispatched to assist local firefighters and police who had been scouring the waters until about 3:30 a.m., according to the statement. State Police divers resumed the search later in the morning.
